View east from the Golden Spike Tower - Union Pacific Bailey Yard (North Platte, NE) eastern portion including the car repair shop: This view was taken looking east from Golden Spike tower of the visitors' center on May 12, 2013. It is 3 images which have been stitched together using PTGUIPro. At the far right is the locomotive inspection and repair shop. To the shop's left is the locomotive servicing and refueling facility. The yard view shows the eastbound hump with the "bowl" in the foreground. The line of locomotives in the foreground and also at the right side of the image are EMD SD9043Mac's which have been sidelined pending a fix for frame problems. The building in the right center is the car repair facility. The tracks in the front are the eastbound ready tracks where eastbound manifest freight trains are undergoing final preparations including acquiring power prior to leaving the yard. The panorama was made using a monopod for stability.
