UP 3507 and UPY 704 at Beaver, IA on May 15, 2013.

Mutt and Jeff: Union Pacific SD9043MAC 3507 and UPY MP15 704 cross the bridge just west of the small town of Beaver, IA on May 15, 2013. The CNW logo on the bridge under the 3507's cab is too faded to be legible. The 3507 along with its mid train helper the 3524 are two of the 9043MAC's that are still operating. Many of the 9043MAC's have been found to have cracked frames and are sidelined in long lines at UP's Bailey yard in North Platte, and at the dormant Marshalltown, IA yard, where the former M&STL (later CNW) shops are now operating as an EMD repair facility. When a fix is found, they will be repaired and returned to service.
