Sacramento Northern freight pauses at Lake Temescal, near Oakland on February 13, 1957.

A Sacramento Northern freight pauses (a "power wait") at Lake Temescal, above Oakland, CA on February 13, 1957. On this run, a gondola for railfans was at the rear of the train. The occasion was the imminent abandonment of the Oakland - Port Chicago segment of the Sacramento Northern. Note that the first three boxcars are all "fallen flags" (Missouri Pacific, Sacramento Northen and Western Maryland). In the background, San Francisco bay is visible.
