Sacramento Northern 645 near Walnut Creek, CA on February 13, 1957.

Sacramento Northern 645 waits at the rear of this freight as the lead motor switches near Walnut Creek, CA on February 13, 1957. At the far left some horses are watching the proceedings, not realizing that soon this stretch of Bay Area history will be just that. The yellow Western Pacific gondola was the accomodations for a railfan excursion two weeks before service ceased on this line on February 28, 1957. The 654 has been restored and is still operational at the Western Rail Museum in Solano county, CA.
